Richard G. Braman passed away yesterday.
As all of my readers know, Richard Braman was the founder of The Sedona Conference. Richard made a big impact on the legal world, especially in e-discovery. He tirelessly promoted legal education conducted in a new way, based on Dialogue, not lecture and argument. He is also well-known for his controversial stand promoting Cooperation in litigation, especially discovery. This is a position I have been proud to support and follow his leadership.
Richard died peacefully in Sedona, Arizona, yesterday after battling an extended illness. May his ideals live on. Please see the Sedona website for further information on Richard’s life.

Thank you, Ralph. A fitting tribute to an extraordinary leader and a remarkable human being who will not be forgotten. A true visionary whose legacy will live on. My heart is heavy today, but Richard’s vision will live on and I know I will never forget him.
So shocked and sorry to hear about Richard Braman’s passing. The legal community owes much to him for all of his education efforts and accomplishments, especially through The Sedona Conference.
That is too young to die. What a legacy he leaves behind. Very sorry for the personal and professional loss.

Richard will be missed, but his legacy and spirit are with us. His leadership, professionalism, and willingness to share and teach are examples for us all to follow. He motivated many to take on the legal issues of our times, to find solutions that will improve the justice system, and to selflessly become legal educators.
