The November 8, 2024 meeting of the Evidence Committee made it clear that the august members of the committee do not believe our warnings. They will do little or nothing to protect our system of justice from the oncoming storm of deepfake justice. They think it is a fake problem and Judge Paul Grimm (ret) and Professor Maura Grossman are wrong. This is not unexpected. Bottom line: we must all be very diligent and learn as much as we can about fake videos and what to do when you are hit with one. Also, what to do if your client presents you with a video too good to be true or otherwise suspect. We are now living in a world of “liar’s dividend” and it is hitting our courts now.
